The Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics cosponsor a four-year training program leading to board certification in internal medicine and pediatrics. Dr. Rita Rossi-Foulkes directs this training program.

The schedule is flexible and allows residents to complete board requirements while affording elective time to pursue individual areas of interest. There is enough time to pursue a research project if the resident desires. Continuity care clinics start in the first year and meet on alternate weeks in the pediatric and adult medicine areas.

After the four-year program, a resident may enter primary care practice or may wish to take additional training at the fellowship level in either medicine, pediatrics, or both. Housestaff participate in the educational activities of both Departments, including grand rounds and the various subspecialty clinical conferences.
