The Department of Medicine offers a well-defined training pathway for qualified candidates interested in the American Board of Internal Medicine's Research Pathway. Candidates who are MD/PhD's or MD's who have equivalent research experience and who are interested in a career primarily in health sciences research are afforded the opportunity to pursue a two year residency followed early matriculation to a sub-specialty fellowship or other advanced training program. Participants benefit from mentorship by the world class research faculty of the University of Chicago.
